Propeller is on a mission to take the guesswork out of moving dirt - reducing wasted fuel, time and money.

We do this through the power of maps. Our customers capture an accurate 3D version of their worksite with drones so they can understand and improve it. Over 10,000 worksites around the world use Propeller to track and manage their machines, plans and materials digitally, leading to better, faster and less wasteful decisions.

Everyone at Propeller is empowered to approach, own, and solve problems creatively. We’re 100% about impact, 0% about ego and challenge ourselves to improve in everything we do. We take being a great place to work seriously and are proud to be recognized as a Fast Company and BuiltIn Best Place to Work. You can learn more about us on Glassdoor.

Your Mission

As a Platform Engineer, you’ll be joining Propeller’s Core Services Engineering teams and will play a key role in building the infrastructure and tooling platform that runs our customer and internal facing applications. You will enable our broader team of engineers to build and deploy our 3D software at a global scale.

You’ll architect, build and maintain everything related to our Kubernetes-based, microservice, back-end infrastructure and deployments. You’ll also be involved with all aspects of our AWS infrastructure as well as some on premise machines. You’re an individual who loves to increase productivity and you’ll be developing fast and efficient automated workflows which allow other teams to leverage off to build our product.

You’ll be familiar with infrastructure as code products like Terraform and use this approach to manage our ever evolving architecture. You’re passionate about security and you’ll do everything possible to implement tools and workflows that make best practice easier to enact at Propeller.

About you

  • You’re keen to work on cross functional projects which have a high level of impact and leverage across internal and external customers.
  • You’re as interested in Python coding as you are in AWS infrastructure. You tread the line between Development and Ops and enjoy connecting these two together.
  • You’re interested in analysing and observing existing products to understand where we can improve efficiencies and prevent bottlenecks.
  • You enjoy leading projects and improving collaboration across the engineering team to ensure successful project delivery.

Your skills

  • You’re deeply familiar with AWS infrastructure and experienced in monitoring and deploying modern distributed microservices.
  • You’ve worked with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes and developed internal tools for engineering and managed CI/CD pipelines.
  • You’ve got an eye for security and implementing best practices across the company.
  • You’re experienced in provisioning infrastructure as code, ideally with Terraform.
  • Experience scripting in Python, Javascript or Typescript.
